Core Curriculum

Core curriculum is the evidence-based curriculum that all students receive on a daily basis. To be effective, teachers must differentiate their instruction to meet the needs of each individual student in the classroom.

Overview:  

UFLI Foundations, an explicit and systematic program that teaches students the foundational skills necessary for proficient reading. It follows a carefully developed scope and sequence designed to ensure that students systematically acquire each skill needed and learn to apply each skill with automaticity and confidence. The program is designed to be used for core instruction in the primary grades or for intervention with struggling students in any grade.

Overview:

The EL Education K–8 Language Arts curriculum is a high-quality, nationally acclaimed program written by teachers, for teachers, that engages students in compelling science and social studies topics, fostering skill and knowledge acquisition. The curriculum is rooted in the Science of Reading, building knowledge while addressing the Five Components of Reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and reading comprehension. The curriculum aims for students, by the end of grade 2, to acquire the depth of skills they need in the Reading Foundations standards to navigate grade-level text independently.  EL Education K–8 Language Arts curriculum meets expectations across all domains (text quality, knowledge-building, and usability) according to EdReports ratings.
