Core curriculum is the evidence-based curriculum that all students receive on a daily basis. To be effective, teachers must differentiate their instruction to meet the needs of each individual student in the classroom.

Guiding criteria for the emergent essential math curriculum

Does the student 

  • Know some numbers?

  • Understand that numbers represent quantities?

  • Demonstrate interest and engagement during math activities?

  • Have a means of interaction and communication?

  • Understand patterns or cause/effect?

If any of these answers are no the student qualifies for this curriculum
